FIFA soccer is about the funnest game I've played yet on my ipad2. It has saved me from boredom on more than one occasion. The game itself is manufactured by EA Games and I think the best EA I've played so far. Well, lets cut to chase...
The good : the first thing you notice when you first play FIFA 2011 is it's amazing graphics . I am completely stunned, and look forward to the day that the Retina display iPad will be released. The controls on the game also caught me by surprise by the functionality and ease of use on the touchscreen . They come very natural and has a very slight learning curve , if any at all on this game, to learn the controls .
The Game has several different modes, many I haven't yet explored but I'll go ahead and give you the run down of all the different modes : Season mode, Quick match , and Tournament mode. FIFA also has a lot of choice teams to choose from over 500 teams and over 30 stadiums to choose from to make your game unique to your taste. You can really customize this game in really any aspect from the player's uniforms, to the stadium, to the actual ball you play with there are so many combinatios !!!
I could write forever about the different features this game has but I'll just write it out to make it easier for you and me.:) The top features include : Bluetooth and Wifi capable multiplayer games, compatible to do multiplayer with iPhone and iPod touches who also have the exact same game, gesture support, swype players in the forward direction in order to send them forward or double tap the player to perform a special move, and lastly but not least, the AMAZING GRAPHICS.
The bad : Now the dreaded part ,it really breaks my heart to say something negative about my favorite game but here it is.
The selection of teams isn't exactly as organized as I would like it to be but maybe it's just me. Another thing I didn't like about the game,is, although I like EA's games , especially Hot Pursuit, is the ability / option to assign the gestures as actual buttons down by my fingers. The reason I say this is that it sometimes slows down my game play when I have to slide my finger across the screen to send a team mate forward , but maybe they will release that feature in another update.
Another thing I want to note is as you download the app, as I did wirelessly from my ipad2 , is that it can take forever to download . Literally it took me about 20 minutes to download it from the AppStore :( I was not happy, but at least I got it on sale. Which leads us to our last con.
The last big thing that really kept me from buying it the time I did was the price. If I remember correctly it was $10.00 !!! Luckily I bought it around the time of July 4 so I got a discount due to a sale EA was having around that time . My advice is to wait it out, and look for a discount around big holidays from EA or just keep checking the AppStore ,unless you want to take out $10.00 and pay for the game for it's full price.
As usual we will leave the ultimate decision to you the consumer but we here at MacRepublic will give it a 4.6 . Let us know what you think in the comments below.
