3 Things to do to Facebook with Google Chrome

Hey guys! Ok, so first off, I want to apologize for the large gap in posts. I think we almost called it quits last March, but I think I'm going to try and start us up again! I happen to know that we have a lot of views, not only on our Facebook page, but on our website still! As of today, September 3rd, we have had 11,000 views total! Man. Ok, well enough of the apologies, lets get to the good stuff!

Before reading this post, please let me advise you that if your running Firefox, Opera, Safari, IE or any other browser, you should seriously consider getting Google Chrome. It's by far the fastest browser I've ever used and it's totally free! Not to mention all of the great plugins that you can download! And the plugins are what I'm pressing you to get it for today. I'm going to talk about 3 great things you can do to Facebook using a couple plugins for Google Chrome!

Plugin #1: Social Fixer

Social fixer is an AMAZING plugin. Basically, you can do anything you want to facebook. Anything from hiding certain posts from certain people to changing where the chat bar is on the page! You could do anything! Just a couple examples that I'm using it for:

Full-screen pictures on hover

This function is awesome. I mean, it works on cover photos, profile pictures, random pictures (as my example describes), pictures of family, pictures of dogs, pictures of anything. And how inconvenient is it that sometimes only half the picture shows up, and then you have to click on it, wait for it to show up, spend 10 seconds re-adjusting your eyes because now your looking in the middle of the screen instead of the top, and then finally find the tiny little "x" in the top right hand corner. So now guess what you can do? Just hover over the image and that happens! You can even customize it to appear in the top left, top right, bottom left or bottom right corners.

Make your stupid Timeline look almost normal

You know you hated it when Facebook recently forced you into Timeline! I mean, I only liked it because it was new and not everyone had it! But now it's kinda boring and lame. So I fixed it... with Social Fixer! Given, it won't completely fix your timeline, but you can make it look more normal! Take away the cover photo, put it all in one column, make the background white and boom! It's half normal! It seems like someone would've recorded how the page works when it WASN'T timeline and edited it to revert, but whatever!

Well, there's definitely a whole lot more features that I don't use, but feel free to explore them all! Hah, it makes you wonder what would happen if you turned every option on! You can download this plugin at http://socialfixer.com/ to try it out for yourself. But now, it's time to move on to our second plugin for Google Chrome!

Plugin #2: Stylish

This plugin's name is pretty self explanatory: Stylish. It styles something... come on, your almost there... Ah! There it is! It re-styles websites! And you wanna know the greatest part about this plugin? There's this website called userstyles.org where you can get countless user-made styles for almost every website! But honestly, the most phenomenal website styles have been based on Facebook. Here, I've downloaded a couple and tested them out! Here's a couple of my favorites:

FaceBlack

Man... This theme is just great. It provides a nice, dark look to facebook, provides a bezel on the top bar, and makes everything look nice. They all match the color scheme really well, and have some wonderful eye-candy that just makes you wanna take another look around! Another great feature is that they use CSS3 and make a nice little animation when you hover over the buttons in the left and, if you have it enabled, the right sidebar! Just these things and more are included in the FaceBlack Facebook style. Get it at http://userstyles.org/styles/65379/faceblack!

Dark Shiny Blue, Transparency

Once again, this is an incredibly impressive theme. The light blue contrasted with the darkish colors make a wonderful feeling of calmness. It's sort of that feeling that you get when everything around you is peaceful. Wonderful text colors that go awesomely with the background, and notifications have a little glow to them so you can easily find them. Everything is just very nice and calm. This one is also very cool because it is one of the ones that I have found that include a semi-transparent top bar. It is only partly attached to the top, and you can see everything that flows behind it. You can get this awesome theme for Stylish at http://userstyles.org/styles/11922/facebook-dark-shiny-blue-transparency!

Blacked Out!

And now, our final theme for Facebook using Stylish: Blacked Out! This is personally the style that I use as default just because I like it so much. Blacked Out! gives this interesting feeling of... creepiness? I really can't put my finger on the feeling. But the nice, vignetted wood background gives this feeling of aloneness (which is a little funny, because Facebook is for being social when you're alone), and the transparent everything else makes it just more amazing! The top bar is completely transparent, but yet still present, as with the post boxes and the side bars. The text is super easy to read, unlike some of the other ones, and everything stands out with perfect contrast. I'll be using this one, and maybe you will be too! If you want to download this theme, go to http://userstyles.org/styles/59339/blacked-out-rounded-corners-no-ads. And now, for our final plugin...

Plugin #3: Dislike on Facebook PRO

Everyone has, at one point in time, wanted a Dislike Button. You know you have! Well now you can finally have it. And the greatest part is that other people with the dislike button can see what you dislike and vise versa! This great plugin does nothing more than what it describes: it adds a dislike button to the bottom of posts. You can download this plugin here: http://bit.ly/PYKkov. Maybe I'll see whatever you dislike on facebook! Whether you would use this or not, I would just keep it on just for kicks:)

Well, this concludes my half-essay on three great plugins on Google Chrome! I use each of these daily, and hope you will be too. Remember, to get these updates even easier, like us on Facebook! - www.facebook.com/macrepublic
